Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour1 cup
  • Water1 cup
  • Butter2 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tbsp
  • Salt0.25 tsp
  • Oil for frying2 cups
  • Cinnamon sugar for coating0.5 cup

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting the end with scissors.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove churros with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. While still warm, roll the churros in cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.
  9. Serve immediately, with chocolate sauce for dipping.
